Sync an iPod without deleting the Music

Have you bought a computer to home or is your computer become worn-out or have you plugged iPod to any friend’s computer? These practices can make the iPod to be synced with a new version of iTunes which will be different from the version that you have used to add music to the device. Due to these practices, all music files on the iPod will be deleted automatically. If you use ‘My Computer’ together with iTunes, then you can Sync an iPod without Deleting the Music on the device. 



Instructions   

  • Click on the start option and select my computer. Press the Tools menu, choose folder options and then pick the view tab. Down the cursor to the middle of the window till you find ‘Show hidden files and folder’. Select this option and click ‘Ok’. My computer should be kept open.

  • Connect the iPopd to sync with the computer and open iTunes.

  • Select the iPod icon on the left side of iTunes. A pop up message will appear and ask whether to synchronize the iPod. Leave this message without choosing ‘Yes’. Otherwise all the music files on the device will be automatically deleted.

  • Select the ‘Enable disk use’ option at the lowest part of iTunes screen.

  • Return to ‘My Computer’. Here you will see your iPod’s name and an icon under the option ‘Devices with Removable Storage’.

  • Click on the iPod icon for two times in My Computer.

  • Click on the iPod control folder and open the music folder.

  • Highlight and choose all the folders in the music folder and copy them.

  • Paste the copied folders to the desktop.  Minimize the My Computer window.

  • Click on the ‘File’ option in iTunes and select ‘Add Folder to Library’. Choose any of the folders that you have pasted on to the desktop. Songs of that folder will be added to the iTunes library. Follow this step for every folder on the desktop.

  • Unplug the iPod from the computer. Reconnect the device after 10 seconds. If you are asked whether to sync iPod, then click on ‘Yes’ option. If such message has not appeared, then move for next steps.

  • Click on ‘File’ menu and select ‘Sync iPod. iPod will be synced without deleting music files from the device. Hence, your favorite musical collection will be safe and secured.
